Facilitators

Zikkazimba Productions is a small company that believes, it only takes one person to make a difference. In 2008 we started by developing workshops to make drama theory more accessible to students. We then started developing works that encourage students to engage critically with their environment and that led us to exploring our own environment and seeing where we could contribute.

SCHOLARSHIPS

ZIKKAZIMBA SCHOLARSHIP

Jaques and Ryan both teach at the Market Theatre Laboratory and were inspired by these students who are so hardworking and dedicated and many of them managing extraordinary circumstances to achieve their goals. Seeing what these students accomplish we were driven to create this scholarship. For two reasons, the Market Laboratory produces the most talented and well trained performers in the country and providing an education is the one sustainable way to move our country forward.

CAMERON CONLON SCHOLARSHIP

Cameron Conlon tragically passed away in his matric year. In his short performing life, his passion for the Performing Arts was unmistakable and amongst many of his talents he showed an undeniable talent for physical theatre and clowning. Out of something so tragic, something beautiful has emerged. Cameron's mother and father Sue and Deon approached Zikka Zimba and requested that in order to keep Cameron's memory alive they would like to contribute and fund raise for the scholarship. This will create a legacy going forward.

The recipient of the this year's Cameron Conlon Scholarship, Matthew Rantsoma was announced recently at a ceremony at the Market theatre Laboratory. The ceremony was attended by many including Cameron's parents, ZikkaZimba’s Ryan Dittman and Jacque Da Silva, Market Theatre Lab Education Officer Clara Vaughan and Ismail Mohamed (CEO of the Market Theatre).
